A devoted pet owner recently celebrated his cat’s incredible 30-year-old cat birthday, a rare milestone for any feline.
Leslie Greenhough, 70, proudly shared that his cherished tortoiseshell cat, Millie, turned 30, marking the occasion with a special gathering. “It was an amazing day; reaching 30 is a huge achievement,” Greenhough told SWNS. “I even had a custom cake made with her face on it. The weather was so warm she kept licking all the cream off.”

Greenhough believes Millie’s impressive lifespan is thanks to a combination of love, pampering, and a well-balanced diet. “She enjoys plenty of treats, cozy cuddles on the couch, and wakes up like clockwork at 12 p.m.,” he revealed. Her meals include a mix of salmon, prawns, chicken, and tuna, and she only drinks Buxton mineral water. Alongside her nutritious diet, Millie gets a good balance of rest and activity.
“She follows her own rhythm,” he added. “I often find her napping behind the couch or curled up on my bed. Occasionally, she ventures outside to play in the garden—but at heart, a cat remains a cat.”
30-Year-Old Cat Birthday: A Journey of Love and Loss
Millie’s journey wasn’t always smooth. Greenhough recalled how she developed a cautious nature after being bullied by neighborhood cats, which led her to become more of an indoor pet—something he believes contributed to her longevity.
His late wife, Paula, adopted Millie when she was just a three-month-old kitten back in 1995. The couple met through the dating site Plenty of Fish in 2012 and married in 2014. By then, Millie was already an integral part of their family. “She was such a gentle cat when I first met her,” Greenhough reminisced. “But she’s always been a little shy.”
In 2020, tragedy struck when Paula passed away due to COVID-19. Millie, deeply affected by the loss, struggled to eat for a while. “It was an incredibly tough time for both of us,” Greenhough shared. “She refused food at first, even when I tried offering her prawns and chicken. But over time, she gradually returned to eating cat food.”
Determined to ensure Millie gets the recognition she deserves, Greenhough continues to pursue an official acknowledgment of her extraordinary age. “My lifelong goal is to get her into the Guinness Book of Records,” he stated.
In November 2022, Flossie the cat, then nearing 27 years old, earned the Guinness World Record for Oldest Living Cat. If verified, Millie could soon claim the title as one of the longest-living felines in history.
