Tron: Ares trailer has officially dropped, giving fans a first glimpse at the latest chapter in the legendary sci-fi franchise. Released by Disney on Saturday, April 5, the teaser introduces a dramatic collision between the real world and the digital realm.
The 90-second preview features Jared Leto as Ares, a highly advanced program who escapes the virtual space into the physical world on a mission with massive consequences. Jeff Bridges, returning in a voiceover as original protagonist Kevin Flynn, sets the tone with the chilling line, “Ready? Cause there’s no going back.”

Alongside Leto, the film showcases a star-studded cast, including Evan Peters, Greta Lee, Cameron Monaghan, Arturo Castro, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Gillian Anderson, and Bridges himself.
Set as the third installment in the Tron saga, Tron: Ares explores the implications of artificial intelligence crossing into our world. Disney described the story as “humanity’s first contact with A.I. beings” in a February 2024 preview.
Leto, 53, who portrays the mysterious and possibly menacing Ares, expressed deep admiration for the series. “I must’ve watched the first Tron dozens of times growing up,” he shared in an August 2024 interview. “Going back to those films to research and build the character was a joy.”

Tron: Ares trailer Teases High-Tech Storytelling
The original Tron (1982) followed video game creator Kevin Flynn as he hacked into his former company’s mainframe and got pulled into the digital world he helped create. There, he teamed up with TRON, a protective program designed to maintain balance.
In Tron: Legacy (2010), Flynn’s son entered the virtual world to rescue his long-lost father, facing off against rogue code in a fight between good and evil.
Now, in Tron: Ares, director Joaquim Rønning says the legacy continues: “This film builds on the foundation of futuristic design, innovative tech, and compelling storytelling. It feels like the perfect moment to return to the Grid.”
Tron: Ares opens in theaters on October 10.
