The search for the missing fisherman began late at night, when St. John the Baptist Parish Sheriff’s deputies, led by Corporal Travis Klibert, found the man’s vehicle just before 11:30 p.m. With the help of Deputy Brian Kennedy’s drone, authorities located the man about two-tenths of a mile away from the vehicle in a wooded area. Sergeant Jonathan Walker quickly provided the man with a lifejacket, using a rope to pull him back to safety.

Once rescued, the man explained that his phone had stopped working after getting wet, preventing him from calling for help. He was alert but was taken to a nearby hospital for further evaluation. Sheriff Mike Tregre praised the quick response of his deputies and reminded the public to always inform someone about their plans when venturing outdoors. “You never know what will happen. It’s important to let others know your whereabouts,” said Tregre.
