The case of the Missing French bulldogs Alaska has taken a tragic turn after their remains were discovered inside crab pots. Authorities are now actively investigating the heartbreaking incident.
Alaska Wildlife Troopers made the shocking discovery during a routine check of shellfish traps near Thorne Bay Harbor on March 14. The two French bulldogs had vanished on February 13, leaving their owners desperate for answers.
Missing French Bulldogs Alaska: A Mysterious Disappearance
Esther Martin, the devastated owner, shared that her husband Kane Martin and his brother Shane regularly brought their beloved 1-year-old bulldogs—Yoda and Whiskey—to work with them at a logging site near Thorne Bay. On that fateful morning, when they took a break around 9:30 a.m., the dogs were nowhere to be found.
“They went to work with them every day since June. It was completely out of character for them to disappear like that,” Esther explained. “We were instantly suspicious but held onto hope that they would return. As time passed, our fears deepened.”
Despite extensive searches, including leaving familiar scents like clothing and dog beds at the site, Yoda and Whiskey never returned. The Martins even offered a $500 reward, later increasing it to $1,000, in hopes of bringing their pets home.
Weeks later, troopers recovered the dogs’ remains in crab pots. Authorities verified their identities using photographs and details provided by the family. The Alaska State Troopers confirmed that the case remains an open investigation.

A Case That Feels Personal
Kane Martin believes the disappearance was intentional. “The troopers told me they thought this was something personal,” he shared. “I can only think of one person who might hold a grudge, but nothing that would justify this. I’ve lived here my entire life.”
As the investigation continues, the Martins have raised the reward to $2,500 for any information leading to those responsible. Esther, still grappling with the loss, hopes her beloved dogs didn’t suffer. “They were the sweetest souls. I just pray their final moments were quick.”
Authorities urge anyone with information about the Missing French bulldogs Alaska case to come forward and assist in bringing justice to Yoda and Whiskey.
