Dog Rescued from Roof Connecticut: Brave Pup Saved

Dog Rescued from Roof Connecticut

Firefighters in Hartford had an unexpected mission when they responded to a two-story home and discovered a small dog stranded on the rooftop. The dog rescued from roof Connecticut incident happened around 3:45 p.m. on Sunday, April 13, after a call came into the Hartford Fire Department about a pup spotted high above ground on New Park Avenue.

According to reports from NBC Connecticut and the Hartford Courant, the adventurous canine had reached the roof by climbing out of an open attic window, then made its way to the top of the two-and-a-half-story home. Luckily, the Hartford Fire Department acted quickly.

Using a ladder truck, firefighters lifted one team member in a bucket to gently retrieve the dog. The pooch was safely brought back to the ground without any injuries.

District Chief Mario Oquendo Jr. even joked with WFSB-TV, saying, “Based on his bravery, climbing and comfortability being on that roof, I may have to offer this puppy a job.”

The dog rescued from roof Connecticut story warmed hearts across the community and reminded many of another recent animal rescue. Just last month in Pennsylvania, the Charleroi Fire Department came to the rescue of a frightened cat stuck inside a car engine.

Chief Robert Whiten Jr. explained how firefighters had to dismantle parts of the car to free the feline, who was likely seeking warmth on a cold morning. After its rescue, the cat was taken to a nearby shelter for care.

Both rescues highlight the everyday heroism of fire departments—and the unpredictable ways pets can get into trouble.
