Doug Ruch Embarks on Inspiring Final Mission

Doug Ruch

Doug Ruch, a terminally ill man from San Antonio, Texas, is dedicating the rest of his life to helping others across America.

Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021, Doug Ruch has battled the disease with courage and resilience. After learning earlier this year that his condition had advanced to stage 4, he was given a prognosis of just 12 to 18 months to live. Rather than retreating, he chose to give his final chapter a greater purpose.

Doug Ruch Launches 50-State Volunteer Journey

Now on a heartfelt mission he calls “Dying to Serve,” Doug Ruch is traveling to all 50 states, donating his time and energy to volunteer work. In just over a month, he has already assisted food banks, community centers, and local initiatives—serving meals, packing food, and lifting spirits along the way.

“This journey has already transformed my mindset,” he shared. “I’ve met incredible people, and this work gives me a reason to smile every day.”

Inspires Others to Make an Impact

Despite exhausting his life savings—around $80,000—on treatment, Doug Ruch launched a GoFundMe to support this nationwide mission. As of April 24, the fundraiser has brought in $67,000, allowing him to purchase a vehicle for the road and continue spreading kindness.

Next stops include Montana and South Dakota, where he’ll support community cafes and serve meals with a “pay-what-you-can” spirit. He encourages others to join him when possible.

“I’m not trying to be famous—I’m just a man trying to do good with the time I have left,” he said. “If I can inspire even a few people to give back, I’ll leave this world fulfilled.”
