According to a press release from the Long Beach Police Department, 28-year-old Alexander Cueva was seen violently slamming a dog to the ground on Monday, April 21, in Long Beach, California. The alleged incident was filmed and shared on social media, quickly gaining traction and prompting concern across the community.
Police received multiple reports about the circulating video and acted swiftly. On Tuesday, April 22, Alexander Cueva arrest took place, and he was booked into the Long Beach City Jail. He remains behind bars with a No-Bail warrant, while the investigation remains ongoing.
Alexander Cueva Arrest Sparks Animal Welfare Response
Fortunately, the injured dog was rescued and treated at Long Beach Animal Emergency. Long Beach Animal Care Services reports the dog is now recovering in their care. While she suffered some injuries, she remains “bright, energetic, and responsive” and is expected to make a full recovery.
“She is not up for adoption at this time due to the ongoing investigation but will be placed in a foster home during her recovery,” said Long Beach Animal Care Services. They’ve urged the public to monitor updates for future adoption opportunities.
