Military Warriors Support Foundation Gifts Hero Home

Military Warriors Support Foundation

Military Warriors Support Foundation continues to change lives through its incredible mission. During George Strait’s recent concert in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the country music icon once again partnered with the organization to donate a home to a deserving veteran.

This marked the 124th house given away through his collaboration with the Military Warriors Support Foundation. The latest recipient was Sgt. Derek Austin, a Purple Heart honoree who was wounded in Afghanistan after his convoy came under attack. He suffered a traumatic brain injury and continues to cope with PTSD.

Now, Sgt. Austin will soon move into a brand-new, mortgage-free home—a life-changing gift that represents hope and gratitude.

As Austin was brought onstage, the crowd erupted in cheers. A representative from the Military Warriors Support Foundation introduced him, adding with a smile, “By the way ladies, this hero is single—and now has a house with no mortgage!”

Strait, a veteran himself, has worked closely with the foundation for 14 years, donating nearly $61 million in homes during his concerts.

George Strait’s Continued Commitment

This heartfelt moment is part of Strait’s ongoing tour with Chris Stapleton. The two artists are currently playing a five-city stadium run, with upcoming shows in Buffalo, Foxborough, and Los Angeles.

The foundation’s website describes the emotional highlight of each concert: veterans are recognized in front of thousands of cheering fans, and gifted a home in a moment they’ll never forget. The audience becomes part of the experience, often breaking into chants of “USA, USA!”

These powerful gestures go beyond music—they remind us all of the deep gratitude owed to those who’ve served.
