Breanna Nix Higher iTunes Chart: Many fans sensed Jamal Roberts was building serious momentum as the “American Idol” Season 23 finale approached — including judge Luke Bryan. But according to Roberts himself, it was fellow finalist Breanna Nix who first believed he’d take the crown — way back during Hollywood Week.

That could explain why Nix, who finished in third place, was seen holding Roberts’ arm and wiping tears during his emotional victory performance on May 18, 2025.

Shortly after his big win, Roberts revealed to TV Insider that Nix had predicted his success months earlier. Despite barely knowing each other at the time, she approached him backstage in January and boldly declared, “You’re going to win this.”

“I looked at her like, ‘Girl, stop playing,’” Roberts recalled. “But she meant it — every single time I performed, she backed me.”

Nix was so confident in her instinct that she even filmed a video during Hollywood Week, predicting Roberts would win. She posted it on May 20, just two days after his victory. In an interview with Entertainment Tonight, she recalled, “I didn’t even know Jamal. I just felt it deep in my gut and said, ‘Hey, you don’t know me, but you’re going to win this thing.’”

Roberts, Nix, and fellow finalist John Foster stood together during the finale as the results were revealed. Roberts smiled as he told TV Insider, “Breanna’s so honest. She turned to me and said, ‘I’m going home. It’s between you and John — and you’re going to win.’ I said, ‘Alright, Breanna,’ but I didn’t really believe it.”
