Community Service Officer Eric Prindle responded to the blaze, only to discover a tiny, injured kitten, whose owner was among the campers. The kitten, later named JJ, had sustained severe facial burns and eye injuries.
Prindle’s quick decision to get the kitten to the Animal Humane Society in Coon Rapids led to a miraculous recovery. With whiskers and parts of his ears burnt off, JJ’s condition was critical. Yet, his resilience shone through as he began to heal. “I thought he might not make it,” Prindle admitted. “But he was still alive when I checked, and I knew we had to do everything we could.”

Eventually, when JJ was strong enough, Prindle and his wife made the life-changing decision to adopt him. Now, JJ lives happily in his forever home, with his whiskers beginning to grow back, and he gets along well with the family’s dog, Twinkie.
