Green Day Hollywood Walk of Fame: A Dream Come True

Green Day Hollywood Walk of Fame

Green Day is riding high right now! The iconic band was recently honored with a star on the Green Day Hollywood Walk of Fame, marking a milestone in their incredible career. During an exclusive interview at a launch party for their new 7-Eleven Slurpee flavor, “Kerplunk Kandy Grape,” in Hollywood on May 2, Billie Joe Armstrong, Mike Dirnt, and Tré Cool reflected on their journey and the honor they had just received.

Armstrong, 53, was still coming to terms with the significance of the honor. He admitted he was so overwhelmed that he considered visiting their new star just to take in the moment again. “It’s like a dream I never expected would happen,” he said. “We never imagined we’d be getting a star like that. It’s still sinking in.”

Dirnt, 52, echoed Armstrong’s sentiment, sharing that after the ceremony, he needed to take a nap to process everything. “It was emotional in a way,” he said, adding that it was an incredible moment for the fans. “Now they have something to look at and validate their love for Green Day.” The band’s star, located at 6212 Hollywood Boulevard, next to Amoeba Hollywood, marks their 2,810th spot on the Walk of Fame.

In addition to their star, Green Day celebrated by introducing a limited-edition Slurpee flavor. The Green Day Hollywood Walk of Fame and the band’s new Kerplunk Kandy Grape Slurpee reflect their long-standing connection to 7-Eleven. The flavor, which combines the sweetness of cotton candy and grape, was named after their second album, Kerplunk, because it was during that time the band spent countless hours hanging out at 7-Eleven.

Dirnt recalled, “As kids, we’d mix different Slurpee flavors to create our own. Designing our own Slurpee is a dream come true for us.” Cool, 52, agreed, adding that Slurpees have always been a source of joy. “When you’re drinking a Slurpee, it’s impossible to feel bad. It’s instant happiness, and that’s exactly what we stand for.”
