Longest Tail Domestic Cat Sets Guinness World Record

Longest Tail Domestic Cat

At just two years old, Pugsley, a stunning silver Maine Coon from Minnesota, has officially entered the Guinness World Records. With an astonishing tail length of 18.5 inches, he now holds the title for the Longest tail domestic cat. His impressive tail first caught the attention of his veterinarian, who immediately noticed its extraordinary length during Pugsley’s first check-up.

“The moment the vet saw him, he said, ‘That is a REALLY long tail.’ That’s when I actually took a closer look and thought… yeah, it really is!” recalls Amanda Cameron, Pugsley’s owner. Six months later, the vet measured it, and to everyone’s surprise, Pugsley’s tail was longer than the previous record-holder’s.

Amanda’s kids were excited to check if there was an existing Guinness World Record for this, and to their amazement, Pugsley had surpassed it! What’s more fascinating is that, at just two years old, his tail may still continue to grow.

Life with the Longest Tail Domestic Cat

Pugsley isn’t just about his record-breaking tail—he’s also full of personality! Living with Amanda and her children, Finley and Josephine, he shares his home with three feline siblings: Winnie, Dutchess, and Gomez (named after another Addams Family character).

While his brother Gomez is known for being overly affectionate, Pugsley is the household troublemaker. “He’s always thinking of new ways to stir up mischief,” Amanda shares. “But at the same time, he’s sweet, loving, and deeply attached to me.”

Pugsley is quite the entertainer, too. He can sit on command and enjoys playing fetch—especially when he’s supposed to be winding down for bedtime! His expressive tail makes him stand out, whether flicking in excitement or gracefully draping over furniture.

His unique feature has also turned him into a bit of a local celebrity. “People are always drawn to him and his calm nature,” Amanda says. Even in unfamiliar settings, Pugsley remains composed, purring softly and charming everyone he meets.

But what does Pugsley think of his own incredible tail? “I think he’s well aware of it,” Amanda laughs. “It sometimes gets in the way—especially when he’s excited. It shoots straight up when I’m trying to feed him, and it ends up right in my face!”

Pugsley’s record-breaking tail may make him famous, but his affectionate and playful nature is what truly makes him special. The Longest tail domestic cat has not only earned a world record—he’s won the hearts of everyone around him.
