Rosamund Pike recently shared an embarrassing moment from her time filming Die Another Day on David Tennant’s podcast, David Tennant Does a Podcast with. The 46-year-old actress, who played the double agent Miranda Frost in the 2002 James Bond film, recalled a particularly awkward scene with Pierce Brosnan, where she thought she was accidentally waxing his chest hair during a love scene.
The scene in question involved the two actors on a swan-shaped sculpture bed, covered in fur. Pike described discovering “nipple covers” and “body tape” for the first time during filming. However, when the scene called for a close embrace, Pike noticed what seemed like hair sticking to the tape. “I thought, ‘Oh my God, I’m waxing Pierce’s chest,’” she confessed. “I was so mortified thinking I was pulling off his chest hair with each take.”

It wasn’t until a few takes later that she realized the hair wasn’t coming from Brosnan but from the fake fur on the bed. Pike laughed at the misunderstanding, calling it one of her most memorable, albeit awkward, moments on set. Despite this embarrassing moment, Pike praised Brosnan, saying he was “an absolute gent” throughout the experience.
Rosamund Pike’s Unforgettable Bond Girl Audition
In addition to the funny on-set story, Rosamund Pike also reflected on her initial audition for the role of Miranda Frost. She admitted to not being a fan of Bond films before auditioning, leading to an awkward fashion misstep. Pike had worn her mother’s concert dress, thinking it was a fitting choice for a sophisticated Bond girl. However, the casting team quickly corrected her, offering a more revealing “shimmering sheath” to better align with their vision for a Bond girl.

Rosamund Pike’s Bold Audition Decision
Pike’s audition experience also included a bold moment when she was asked to change into her underwear. While nervous, she was determined to take the chance, thinking, “If they’re going to see me in my underwear, they better give me the job.” This confidence paid off, as Pike was eventually cast in the role, propelling her career forward.
