Rescue crews worked tirelessly to retrieve the teen from the bottom of the canyon. After being located, the boy was carried to a boat on the Illinois River, which flows along the canyon. From there, he was transported across the river to an ambulance and subsequently airlifted to Loyola Medical Center for immediate medical attention. Authorities confirmed that the boy was in stable condition following the rescue, which lasted about 90 minutes.

Starved Rock State Park Rescue: A Pattern of Ongoing Dangers
This incident marks the second dramatic rescue in recent weeks at Starved Rock State Park. Earlier in April, a 37-year-old woman and her 7-year-old son fell roughly 25-30 feet into another canyon. Thanks to the efforts of rescuers, they were retrieved and transported via helicopter to a nearby medical facility. Despite the increasing number of rescues, officials continue to urge caution for those visiting this scenic but perilous park.
