Teddy Swims has never been afraid to share his vulnerabilities. The genre-blending artist, born Jaten Collin Dimsdale, has been transparent about his emotional journey through his music, especially in his albums I’ve Tried Everything But Therapy, Parts 1 and 2 released in 2023 and 2025. He openly admits that before he sought professional help, he tried everything else to cope with his struggles.
“In the first album, I was in a dark place, battling heartbreak, and writing about it was my way of processing,” says Teddy. “I was in an unhealthy state, both physically and mentally.” But things have drastically changed since then. As Teddy worked on his second album, there was a shift in his perspective, reflecting the unlearning and healing process he was experiencing.

Teddy Swims’ Journey of Healing and Self-Discovery
Teddy Swims also shares that, alongside his solo journey, he is now in couples therapy with his girlfriend, Raiche Wright, as they prepare for the arrival of their first child. “We want to build a strong foundation for our family,” he says, highlighting how therapy has played a crucial role in their relationship and personal growth.
Through his openness about mental health and therapy, Swims’s hopes to challenge the stigma around seeking help. He believes that just as you would see a doctor for a physical ailment, therapy should be seen as an essential tool for mental well-being.
